RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP - NORTH CAROLINA

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill NRSA Primary Care Research Fellowship

Applications are now being accepted for positions beginning July 1, 2010 in UNC's research fellowship for family physicians, general internists and general pediatricians. Over the program's 21-year history, nearly all of its 50+ fellow-graduates have assumed academic positions upon graduation, nearly always in clinician-researcher positions. The program's 2 to 3-year curriculum includes coursework leading to MPH in UNC's School of Public Health, hands-on research involvement and leadership on multiple projects, weekly seminars covering research methods, reviews of fellows' works-in-progress and professional development, and two other weekly seminars sponsored by UNC's K-30 program on grant writing and study methods. The fellowship is principally funded by a NIH National Research Service Award grant. Program fellows see patients typically 2 half-days each week. Salaries range from $43,860 to $51,552 depending on individuals years since medical school graduation. Additional funds are provided for travel and project expenses; health insurance is provided.
